My Father Is Sick

I have been rather quiet in the blogsphere recently. My poor old man has been sick and resting in the hospital. Last week he had very high fever which could not subside after taking paracetamol tablets. So we rushed him to Subang Jaya Medical Centre where he was being admitted to the ICU right away as his breathing was fading off due to excessive phlegm. He is hooked up to the oxygen concentrator to assist his breathing besides the phlegm suction and other tubes & wires to monitor his progress.

The saddest part is his advanced dementia that confuses him all the time as he could not remember why and where he is being warded. We could not even sit beside him all day to pacify him as he has been moved from ICU to CCU to normal ward and now HDU (High Dependency Unit) which forbids anyone to sit beside except few minutes visit only.

I hope everyone will stay healthy always! I will be back soon.

  6. Sorry to hear about your father. Pray that he gets fit to go home soon. Do take good care of yourself, wife and your siblings too when all of you spend time going to the hospital to take care of your father and worry for him. Doesn't the hospital allow a primary carer to stay with your father since the primary carer should not be considered as a visitor?

  8. Speedy recovery to your dad.. Reminds me of my own Sherman's case. Started with high fever, after given paracetamol, still won't subside, went to as high as 40.7, admitted, on drips, still fever not subsided.. You take good care k, I think you'll be better than me.. I cried all day in the ward, until the doctor and nurses (and even my own mum) are sick of looking at my face.. Do take care ya..

  22. This is parts and parcels of life, still do whatever we can...If he has high fever again, try do this

    1) prepare 25 leaves of hempedu bumi, use hands rub it to damage the leave, then put the leave in a pot
    2) boil hot water and pour the hot water into the pot and cover it
    3) after cool, use the water (with towel), help him to rub his face, forehead, neck, ears hands etc.

Can do it few times a day, until temperature subside.

    Good luck
