Merdeka Celebrations 2014 @ Star Cruise

It was the best Merdeka Celebrations I ever had in my life on board a cruise ship in high seas. It was so much fun to see merry makers and happy faces from all walks of life coming together. There was so much eating. drinking and dancing with high tempo music!

 1. The pianist was always there to serenade the guests with his lovely music! What a classic & fantastic way to welcome us, as one by one arrived on board. There was so much cheap duty free bargains to browse even before checking into my room! Crazy!

2. The ship drifted away from the Port Of Penang Island, all the guests had to gather at their designated decks to be taught on the Emergency Drill's procedures! It was great to know that we will have ample time and rescue boats to jump onto easily if anything happens. Their foreign crews were all professional to teach  and show us everything.

 3. The minute the drill was finished, their Merdeka Celebrations and Welcome Ceremony was ready on the highest level deck where the 2 swimming pools are. How nice!

 4. Yes our beloved country is 57 years old now. We have come a long way to achieve the peaceful and harmonious country which is really being envied by many countries. The above beautiful ice and vegetable carvings were done by their expert chefs!

 5. Everyone assembled on this highest level deck which was an awesome place like heavens.

 6. You will start to see many food photos in this post and coming ones to understand how I could balloon up to 5 kgs! Just eat 0.25kg each meal will do.
I may not post every meal I had as it might be boring!

 7. The guests and crew were all fully excited and happy! I love the spirit of these Malaysians and foreigners!

  8. The half naked men were having fun jumping from the cold jacuzzi to the warm one.

 9. The dancers performed a few dances before the ship's captain came to give a warm welcome speech. He is from Sweden and all the other captains are also from Sweden while the ship is originally from Norway. It doesn't surprise me that Sweden has a long history with their Vikings being good navigators in the seas since ancient times.

10. These half naked men enjoyed themselves so much amidst all the stares and cameras! LOL

 11. Our National Anthem's "Negera Ku" was played and a giant tray of cup cakes was brought in.

 12. Ooops! Respect! Respect! All the half naked men had to stand up like sotongs!
Muahahaha! Many people laughed at them!

 13. I was impressed by their expert hands in cutting and slicing the pineapples in seconds!

 14. Hawker food was a welcome sight. Drool! Drool! The Mee Rebus gravy was nice to drink like a soup without its noodles!

 15. The barbeque section had all kinds of well marinated meat and fragrant seafood to blow your mind!

 16. Breads and Salads from all over the world to please.

17. A real glutton's haven of sweet desserts ~ cakes, pies, jellies & kueh-kuehs!

 18. Oooooh! Look at that sinful Pulut Rice cakes with kaya!!! Yummy!

 19. Oh dear ~ I forgot what this Chef was frying.

20. I remembered this was the popular vegetable wrap from Korea! This is always seen on KBS dramas and the guests loved them!

21. Burp! Burp! It was just my first meal and went to take a short nap as the ship sailed into sunset!

  1. After eating then go for a nap? Now that's why the 5kg. It could've been 4.9kg only if you didn't nap after meal :D
That cruise was a special Merdeka themed cruise? That seems awesome!

  3. Oh My Lord ! So much (good) food ! If me, I think I will gain like 2 kg's per MEAL, yes per meal! That would be 6kg a day, please.. I drink a cup of Milo also can become 1kg liao, serious..
I thought it was you in the first picture, becoming a pianist, haha.. My my, the whole place is fit for a KING! Really.. Look at those fruits and ice carving to welcome Merdeka and everyone on board..
Wait, there are two type of Merdeka cakes? Biar betul.. The first white one I see is a whole cake.. Then the second one is the Msian flag cake, which you said were cupcakes.. Oh my, so there were two types of cakes? Don't let me see cakes/cupcakes with colourful frosting, I have a fetish for cream cakes, I think I'd walloped 20 cupcakes before I feast on the roast beef..
I can't look at the food pictures anymore, am suffering here now, coz I didn't go out for lunch.. Survived on a cup of Milo and 2/8 of mooncake slice given by lady boss..
If they serve this kinda buffet for 4 times a day - breakfast, lunch, tea & dinner, I think I will gain 2x4=8kg's a day! *Bam* Become tai fei por liao!

    1. Wakakakaka! What a funny comments! I find it hard to believe that you could eat so much! Look at your petite size, I think you cannot get fat type. Now you give me an idea to go on Milo diet!
Their 4 meals are early morning breakfast, lunch that spills till tea time, dinner and supper at 11.30pm!!! I was a small eater compared to many families who thronged the buffet tables like "Eat To Death" manner. LOL

I am also fond of cream cakes esp cheese cakes and crepe millie cakes. What?? You ate 20 cupcakes!!! Faints!!......where did the 20 cups go to?

    1. Yes they made everyone laugh as they forgot their attire! At least they stood up with respect lah compared to those stupid ones inside the cinema who kept playing their phones & remain seated. In Thailand, the guards would arrest the Thai patrons who didn't stand up during National Anthem.

  5. Aiyoyo, Yannie is drooling at all the food pictures. Yannie loves dessert, kuih muih, pulut with kaya, cakes, fruits and mee rebus too.

But then, Yannie eyes on the heap of bananas, and one National flag cucuk inside the bananas. Yannie loves bananas too. I suspect Yannie was a monkey in her past life. Muahahha!

Forget to ask Anay, breakfast has overnight oats or not?

This Sunday, JAMY and my two PIL will board the star cruise. Yannie now has to run more to shed more fat, so that Yannie extra room to spare for all these scrumptious delicacy.

But he will get disappointed for not seeing any papaya in the pictures.

    2. Just for Jin Jin's family, I must post all my cruise photos by this week and wrap up before the JAMY gang board the ship. Today I think I have developed phobia to cruise again as I might over eat. My wife's uncle and aunt are the greedier ones who tempted me to glutton with them! Phiak my own head!

    3. Thank you very much Anay. Last night Jin Jin spent half an hour reading through your Merdeka star cruise posts. He enjoyed reading your posts and viewing all the pictures. Thank you very much for sharing. We are so glad to read through your review before boarding the ship.

    4. I am so flattered that Jin-Jin came to read for a good 30 mins. I will get ready to post another one on Wednesday okei. I was not so lucky before my trip as no one seem to post the photos that I wanted to see about that ship, that's why I told myself to snap what would interest and attract people to go!! Hopefully the Star Cruise will reward my effort & sweet testimonials with 2 FREE tickets to cruise again!!! Muahahaha

  6. Hey TM! The way you put these pictures up especially the food, I think I gonna register for the cruise soon! hahaha... See got right click or not... preferably next year... Wonder whether the Kucing Family will be interested or not.. or perhaps make a bloggers' cruise? How about that?
By the way, Kudos to the half naked men who stood up to respect! hahahaa.. At least.. they did pay respect..

    1. Yo! Quickly sign up while you can still walk, run and eat all you can. I am sure the Kucing family will love to go! You organize the bloggers cruise but you may not be able to invite that Sibu blogger along. The ship might ban him or throw him overboard for overeating and then leave vicious remarks on the food. Muahahahaha

      Delete
    2. How can simply throw people overboard like that....trash meh. As for vicious comments. .easy la...either can delete or edit the comments. Saw some bloggers does that.

Cruise ah...next year can, Claire? Now near year end. Sure a lotnof people

    3. Not this year end la... still working then.. next year, the chances are higher for traveling... but can start planning already... but who will be the organizer? Compiling bloggers is not an easy task... Let it not be me... I might mess things up... hahahaa...
TM, you'll never know... things might change for the better ... those you expected not going might turn up for all you know and those who are eager to go might not turn up at all.. (including me!) hahahaa...

  16. #1.. what a nice way to welcome the guests.. but i guess only Anay and Letchumy would have noticed the pianists and listen to the music he was playing.. others, must have been busy gazing around, or being gathered by their loud tour guide aside for briefing..

#2.. i like the way this safety briefing was conducted.. everyone was gathered at a corner, stood up and listen.. unlike onboard a plane, everyone just sit down lazily, flipping the magazines or excitedly looking out of the window, and only 10% of the passengers would see/listen to the security briefing.. with everyone there on the deck having nothing to else to do, then only they would pay attention to the briefing..

#3.. briefing and drill done!! yes, time to go wild~~ :D

    1. #4.. awww!! very nice ice sculpture there and also very nice carvings on the fruits!! Thambee likes~~ but the 7 seems to melt faster than the 5?? :D

#5.. looks like a pool party.. and this upper deck is always that packed with people ke??

#6.. 0.25kg each meal and how many meals a day you had there to make up 5kg in 4 days?? i believe it would have to be at least 6 meals or like 0.4kg each meal lah~~

      Delete
    2. #7.. oh wow!! look at the excited and happy shipmates of Anay and Letchumy!! all celebrating the Merdeka Day onboard..

#8.. can't wait to jump into the pool and jacuzzi huh?? and there's a shy one still wearing his white polo sitting by the side of the pool looking at his friends enjoying the dip~~

#9.. i wonder if the dance performance was just for the Merdeka Day celebration, or they have this all the time to welcome the passengers??

      Delete
    3. #10.. good!! and salute these men who don't care about how others may look at them!! life is short, just enjoy~~

#11.. errr, how many little cupcakes there were on that tray?? surely not enough to be distributed to every single passengers dei~~

#12.. yeah, not on the Merdeka Day itself, even when i went to watch movie last Saturday, we still have to rise while the national anthem was played in the cinema before the movie stated!!

      Delete
    4. #13.. they are already professionals dei.. imagine how many pineapples and watermelon they have to cut in a day to feed thousands of hungry passengers on board??!! practice makes perfect, is what this means~~

#14.. oh yeah, i would take a lot of the "liao" with probably tiny winy bit of noodles too!! too irrational to fill up your stomach with that much noodles while you still have so many other food to taste..

#15.. OMG!! those grills!! and i am quite surprise they still have a lot left there to serve.. good service!! imagine some restaurants in town, once they serve the meat hot from the grill, in less than a minute, they are already gone, all onto the plates of hungry customers in line waiting~~

      Delete
    5. #16.. awww, nice breads and salad!! and Thambee thought those were huge mushrooms initially with just a quick glance!! muahahaha.. ah, that butterfly, can eat?? :D

#17.. OMG, another favorite section of mine.. cakes, pies, jellies, kueh-kuehs dan mueh-muehs!! i would gain 10kg if i'm to stay there 4 days~~ :D

#18.. d*mn it Anay!! i love this so much.. such a long table with a humungous spread of sweet desserts!! now, i think i would gain 15kg already.. i just googled, and this blue pulut is called Pulut Tai Tai, muahaha!! what a cute name~~

    6. #19.. i guess this section didn't attract a lot of people huh?? :p

#20.. oh, i love those vegetable wraps too.. from Korea?? hmm, i wonder if they had fried chicken with beer served too??

#21.. awwww.. how enjoyable!! after makan straight away went back into the room to doze off~~ LUXURIOUS!!! what's the chance we can do this in our daily life huh?? almost zero if we are working.. :p
