The Best Of Chengdu

I am back home now. I spent 7 days in Sichuan, China where I stayed in a fabulous hotel right in the downtown of Chengdu along the financial hubs near to the happenings of famous Chunxi Road which is similar to Shanghai's Nanjing Road.

Rhombus Chengdu Hotel offers very top notch facilities, interior decors and 5 Star services with the most polite & efficient team of hotel personnel right from the sales marketing, front desk, housekeeping and concierge services. I would have kissed them all for enduring my fussy demands!

I slept very comfortably for 5 nights on their king sized bed in their suite room. Everything was remote controlled and they provided 2 huge LED televisions with curtain screens operated by just a  finger touch.

My wife spent most of the time lazing on this sofa to finish her university's assignments and the hotel was simply thoughtful to pamper us with fresh pistachio nuts everyday.

The bar and luxurious bathroom were fully stocked with beverages, best aromatic coffees with brewing machine and toiletry creams by Crabtree & Evelyn. I was in heavens and got all my worth's.

On my last night, I was checking out and waited for my car at the lobby when I saw a group of hotel personnel with bodyguards lining at the door to form a barricade. A tinted MPV arrived and a celebrity promptly jumped out amidst the screams of his fans outside. I was all the time holding my phone and managed to snap blurry photos of this Taiwan-based idol Wu Chun. He is so young and handsome. No wonder the gals screamed their lungs out!

I realised I made the same choice of hotel with a famous celebrity but he probably slept in a Presidential Suite while I booked my smaller room at promo rates, many months ahead. I shall return to stay there someday. This is not a paid advertisement okay.

Honestly, I was attracted to this Chengdu's Lan Kwai Fong's entertainment hub which is just a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. I was curious to see this place after partying at Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong several times.

It was so cold that night like 3 degrees with a light drizzle. I must say that it looked so different from HKG's but they are much more organized and colourful with lavish Christmas decors in Chengdu.

We both ate Japanese dinner and drank hot lattes at Starbucks after dinner.

We both held hands and rekindled our love along both sides of the river banks. Lan Kwai Fong overlooks the tranquil river and the colourful water reflections made it so romantic! Muacks!

    3. Oohh lala, toiletry creams by Crabtree & Evelyn.. If me ahh (being an aunty kiasu), I would have taken and kept the creams, and let them refill new stock everyday, kekeke..

So I guess you no need to use your own toiletries liao, can use the hotel's ones coz they are using C&E ma.. Most people bring their own toiletries coz they dont want to use the hotel's one coz no brand and dunno wat "chapalang" brand they use, but wah, now got C&E, sure use kau-kau lor, hehehe..

    1. this Rhombus Chengdu Hotel so nice dei.. Anay has to sell off 100 cows back in your motherland slum in Tiruchirappalli in order to stay one night there.. look at that luxurious bath, allowing you to enjoy your dip while looking outside the room.. or shall i say, BEING LOOKED by the construction workers at that construction site opposite the hotel and yet so close to the room?? :p

      Delete
    2. aiyoyo.. the worst thing that could happen during a vacation - you still need to work on something!! aiyah, like that cannot enjoy the trip to the max lah.. Letchumy still needs to go back to hotel, burn midnight oil to do her assignments.. while Anay has to go take a tub of hot water for her to dip her tired legs and make her coffee.. but i think she was just jotting down some ideas for her assignments for what she has seen for the day only right??

      Delete
    3. fuyoh, eksyennya, staying in the same hotel as the famous pop star!! haha.. but may not necessarily be a good thing lah, if his fans knew he is staying in that hotel, probably they will risk anything to get into the hotel or even his room to just see him - and then cry a bucket like they have accomplished the biggest mission of their lifetimes, die with no regret..

      Delete
    4. wakakakaka, very funny lah, Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu!! i wonder if the name is just a coincidence or intentionally named after the one in HK?? but definitely this one in Chengdu doesn't look as cramped and messy as the one in HK.. and what time was it when you were there, why wasn't there anyone around??

      Delete
    5. so many pose lah this Anay!! Thambee must learn from Anay to pose differently in every photo, instead of that boring sideways with hands in the pocket!! aiyoyo, Anay looks so much younger than Thambee in the photos lah, i think big poses surely make one looks younger and happier!! nowadays Thambee is so fat until the sideway trick also cannot help already, sad!!!

    6. what is the name of that river?? you brought Letchumy to stroll on the river bank, and holding hands to rekindle your love!! awwww, so sweet dei.. but hey, that is so not Anay and Letchumy dei.. you both should find some bushes and coconut trees, running around chasing each other and hiding behind the bushes and trees, not just romantically strolling on the river bank!! eih, that was so salah dei~~ :D

      Delete
    7. Swipe with cards first and sacrifice the cows later la when cannot settle the bills. I really didn't know the name of the river as I was shivering. I still could do lame poses in the cold. I wish I am younger like you so that I would make more silly poses.

The fans probably trailed the star all the way from airport till hotel as they normally keep the hotel as a secret.

Hopefully, they won't be able to see inside. Haha!

Interesting, they have their own Lan Kwai Fong!

  27. Huh, Chengdu has Lan Kwai Fong too? They're really good at copying stuff, aren't they? Lol! Didn't realize I've missed so many of your posts. Sorry, I've been too busy with the festive season.
